A Positive Self-Image at the Core
Every part of our program is designed to help children see themselves as capable and valued. We focus on maximizing each student's potential rather than measuring children against one another.
Partnering with parents in early education — because every child deserves to feel safe, known, and ready to grow.
Our Philosophy
At The Preschool at DUMC, we start from a simple belief: you are your child's first and most important teacher. Our role isn't to replace that relationship — it's to walk alongside you as your family takes its next step in early education. That partnership shapes everything we do, from the way we communicate with families to the way each classroom day is designed.
We believe that every child who comes through our doors is genuinely special. Not as a platitude, but as a guiding principle that drives the individual attention each child receives every single day. Our experienced teachers and highly skilled assistants maintain an 8-to-1 student-teacher ratio so that no child gets lost in the crowd and every milestone gets noticed.
Our goal is for the whole family — not just the child — to look back on the preschool years as a warm, confident chapter. That means keeping parents informed and involved, building real trust between home and classroom, and creating an environment where children feel genuinely known by the adults in their lives.
We are rooted in the Doylestown community and proud to be part of the fabric of families here. The preschool experience we offer is not a stepping stone to be rushed through — it is a foundation worth building carefully, together.
Our Commitment to Every Child
Six pillars shape how we care for each child — and what parents can count on every morning they drop off.
Every part of our program is designed to help children see themselves as capable and valued. We focus on maximizing each student's potential rather than measuring children against one another.
Our experienced teachers and highly skilled assistants maintain a purposefully small ratio so each child receives individual attention, specific encouragement, and real care — every session.
Our staff models and actively teaches intellectual curiosity alongside kindness, fairness, patience, and responsibility — so children develop character and skills at the same time.
From the way teachers speak to children to how children are encouraged to speak to each other — kindness and respect for others aren't just taught; they're demonstrated throughout every session.
We challenge children without frustrating them. Our academic approach builds skills progressively, so children experience genuine mastery and arrive at kindergarten genuinely ready.
Children are encouraged to express themselves through creative play, art, music, and group discussions — building the confidence to share ideas and the social skills to listen to others.
Written, Age-Appropriate Curriculum
Every session at DUMC is guided by a written curriculum that addresses the whole child — not just academic readiness.
Literature, language, science, and mathematical concepts are woven into seasonal topics and special units of study. Children explore the world through structured discovery, building vocabulary, reasoning, and foundational academic skills in every session.
Group discussions, cooperative creative play, and shared music and art experiences teach children how to communicate, collaborate, and resolve differences — skills that matter as much as letters and numbers.
Age-appropriate movement, fine motor activities, and hands-on learning build the physical skills children need to write, create, and engage confidently with their environment both inside and outside the classroom.
Children learn to name feelings, manage frustration, and develop patience and responsibility through consistent teacher modeling and a classroom culture built on fairness, kindness, and genuine belonging.
School Life at DUMC
A rich calendar of shared experiences makes DUMC feel like family — for children and parents alike.
The year opens with a warm meet-and-greet so children meet their teachers and classmates before the first full day. Field trips throughout the year bring curriculum to life beyond the classroom.
From holiday parties and Pajama Day to birthday celebrations, the school calendar is filled with joyful milestones that children look forward to and parents are invited to share.
Children's artwork takes center stage at the annual art show — a chance for every child to share their creativity with the families who mean the most to them.
Family events and the beloved end-of-year picnic bring the DUMC community together outside the classroom — building the friendships that often last long after preschool graduation.
Children gain confidence by sharing what they've learned through performances for parents — a moment every family treasures and every child remembers.
From Pajama Day to themed spirit days, these beloved recurring traditions give children something to look forward to — and remind everyone that learning is meant to be joyful.
Families Speaking for Themselves
Six families. Six different reasons they stayed. What they share: knowing their child was truly known here.
"We have loved the education, warmth, and care our daughter has received from her fantastic teachers at DUMC. The classrooms are fun, engaging, and filled with dedicated educators."
"We absolutely love this preschool! The teachers are so friendly, patient, and incredibly accommodating to children with learning differences. The director Kristi truly goes above and beyond. She knows every child by name and greets them like family each day. It's such a warm welcoming environment and we couldn't be happier to be part of this community."
